Welcome to Calcutta Kathi Rolls
Calcutta Kathi Rolls was started in 2004 by three passionate ex-Calcutta (Kolkata) friends living in Sydney who are lovers of authentic Indian Mughlai food.
The lack of the legendary Kathi Roll in its traditional form in Sydney, the friends launched this initiative to introduce this popular street food to the people of Sydney.
A modest but successful start with a marquee stall run at the India Australia Friendship Fair at the Sydney Olympic Park led to more such market stalls in St Ives Festival of the Green, the Moocooboola festival in Hunters Hill, the village fair at Wahroonga, street festival at Rose Bay, market stalls at North Sydney, Castle Hill, Burwood, Breakfast Point and many more..
After pursuing market stalls for over 15 years, we decided to expand the menu and bring other popular street food from Kolkata - the majestic "dum" style Biryani, the quintessential fish fry and other snacks from our own food vending truck to the people. The food truck is easy to spot - but we ask that you check the website and other social media for our next location to taste these incredible street foods from Kolkata, the City of Joy. We have also introduced other popular street food items - the Dal Puri served with home made alu dum (dry potato curry), the mughlai egg paratha served with alu dum or with keema (lamb mince) on the side. As to some sweets at the end of the meal, please try the langcha (Bengali gulab jamun) and carry home a family pack of mishti doi (sweetened yoghurt). Since 17 April, 2021 since we commenced trading at Fisher Ave, Pennant Hills, we have served our iconic food to people and some of whom have travelled long distances to savour our food. We briefly traded in St Ives Chase and we will explore other locations in future to serve a wider section of our food lovers. From May 2024 we have opened a small restaurant with the same name at Dural for a sit down experience of our foods/ Adda in a typical Kolkata Cafe environment

It has been a pleasure serving you all and we take pride seeing familiar faces return regularly to get the taste of our food. We also are grateful for the honest feedback our customers have left us and we take note of them to further refine and improve our food items.
Our food bears testimony to the fact that the Good Food Guide listed Calcutta Kathi Rolls as one of the top takeaway (food) destinations during COVID lockdown period in 2021. Over time, we will continue to add more food to our menu and offer our customers more choices and options for an enhanced meal experience.
